Our in-depth industry knowledge, deep bench of expertise, and holistic approach resulted in a successful acquisition.
The Challenge
A specialty chemicals manufacturer asked ChemQuest to assist in developing a strategy to diversify its portfolio and expand in the personal care segment. We were tasked with evaluating the market dynamics, technologies, supply chain dynamics, attractiveness, and ability to win.
Our in-depth assessment included trends, headwinds/tailwinds, value chain analysis, consumer ingredient awareness, perceptions, unmet needs, patent landscape, strategic fit, and synergies.
Custom, Comprehensive Analyses of Markets and Technologies
In addition to market assessment and M&A advisory expertise, this project benefitted from the ChemQuest team’s technical knowledge and capabilities in materials characterization and evaluation.

The Results
The ChemQuest team developed a database of nearly 600 candidates for the client’s consideration. We used our extensive industry knowledge to evaluate criteria relative to structural attractiveness, fit, feasibility, and ability to win.
Working with the client, the team filtered the list to nearly 30 candidates (plus an additional 20 for backup) to explore for potential investment. The client successfully closed on an acquisition.
