The client’s willingness to trust ChemQuest Technology Institute as an experienced third-party partner led to the ideation of new approaches to develop a challenging new product.
The Challenge
A supplier of biological waste-management products desired to develop a next-generation technology that would respond optically to slight changes in environmental conditions, alerting the user to a potential problem.
After using internal resources to search various patents and technologies, the supplier was not able to identify any off-the-shelf solutions that could meet the performance specifications required for this application. They approached ChemQuest to assist them with developing a solution.
Development of Chemistry Solutions
CQTI scientists tackled this issue in two main project segments: technology mapping and ideation.
Technology
Mapping
- Translated product function to technical specifications
- Mapped technical specifications to potential chemistry and material solutions
- Broke the new product down into components that perform as a single cohesive system
Ideation
Process
- Assembled cross-disciplinary teams to ideate innovative approaches to solving the problem
- Developed a scoring matrix to assess technical and commercial feasibility
- Evaluated and ranked the potential approaches
The Results
Our cross-disciplinary teams worked together to develop several innovative approaches to solving the client’s product development problem. We developed a research, development, testing, and scaling plan that will enable the client to successfully advance the new technology toward commercialization.
